    Wastewater defoamer is composed of polyether, fumed silica, dispersants, and stabilizers. It can quickly disperse in water, possessing excellent instantaneous defoaming ability and long-lasting foam suppression effect. It can effectively eliminate and inhibit foam generated during wastewater treatment without altering the oxygen content of the water, thus avoiding secondary pollution of the water body.  A very small amount is sufficient to achieve defoaming and inhibit foam regeneration, making it a highly stable wastewater defoamer. So, what causes foaming in wastewater?

    I. Causes of Foaming in Wastewater:
    The presence of surfactants in the water easily leads to foam formation.
     Excessive growth of filamentous bacteria can cause bacterial flocs to carry a large amount of air, forming stable, difficult-to-remove scum foam on the water surface.  Excessive growth of filamentous bacteria has been proven to be the main cause of foam formation;
     If the wastewater contains excessive fatty acids, and the system has a long sludge retention time, a low sludge return rate, and a low F/M ratio, it can lead to excessive growth of filamentous bacteria, resulting in foam production.
    II. Hazards of Wastewater Foam
    It affects the normal display of instruments, especially in wastewater treatment plants using DCS automatic control, leading to system malfunctions. For ultrasonic level meters, it can cause false level readings, and in severe cases, cause the pump to run dry; if the total discharge of the wastewater treatment plant uses an open channel flow meter, it may cause errors in the total wastewater flow measurement.
    A large amount of wastewater foam can spread onto walkways, affecting normal maintenance. In winter, wastewater foam may freeze, making cleaning difficult; in summer, it can be blown around by the wind, creating unpleasant odors and severely polluting the environment.
    In processes using surface aeration equipment, the viscous wastewater foam can hinder normal aeration and oxygenation, reducing the dissolved oxygen in the mixed liquor.
    Some wastewater foam may also enter the secondary sedimentation tank, increasing the SS, CODcr, and other pollutants in the effluent.
